Autoclave Sterilisation Indicator Tape 121 °C / 134 °C
Self-adhesive tape with heat-sensitive ink. Changes colour on completion of a steam sterilisation cycle—a standard visual process indicator used in laboratories, hospitals and research facilities.
How It Works
The ink reacts to the heat and steam conditions inside the autoclave chamber. Turns black (dark brown) when the load has been exposed to the required cycle parameters:
- 121 °C for 15 minutes— standard gravity or pre-vacuum sterilisation cycle
- 134 °C for 6 minutes— high-temperature or flash sterilisation cycle
No colour change indicates the cycle was incomplete or the tape did not reach the target temperature.
Typical Applications
Apply directly to autoclave bags, instrument trays, flasks and containers. Allows immediate visual separation of processed from unprocessed items—particularly useful in shared or high-throughput environments.
Routinely used in microbiology laboratories, operating theatres and hospital central sterile services departments (CSSD).
