Melting Point Capillary Tubes Borosilicate Glass LBG 3.3
Borosilicate LBG 3.3 glass capillary tubes for melting point determination of solid compounds. Two versions available depending on application: one sealed end (A) and both ends open (B).
Available versions
- Type A — one sealed end: Standard design for loading solid samples. The closed end retains the sample throughout the test.
- Type B — both ends open: Dual-purpose. For melting point determination and sample transfer to thin-layer chromatography (TLC) plates.
Material and construction
- Glass: Borosilicate LBG 3.3
- Chemical resistance: Compatible with common organic and inorganic compounds encountered in synthesis work
- Clarity: Thin walls allow clear visual monitoring of the sample during heating
Typical applications
Organic synthesis, pharmaceutical, and quality control laboratories — used to confirm compound identity and purity by comparison against theoretical melting point values. Type B also used in chromatography for manual sample spotting on TLC plates.
Compatibility
Compatible with standard laboratory hot-block melting point apparatus. Type B tubes are suitable for use with silica and alumina TLC plates.
