Dean-Stark Apparatus with Glass Stopcock for Water Determination in Oils and Fats
Complete Dean-Stark assembly for quantitative water determination in oils and fats by azeotropic distillation. All components in a single supply: flask, condenser, and receiver with glass stopcock.
Kit Components
- Flask: 500 ml
- Condenser: 40 cm
- Receiver: 25 ml, with glass stopcock
- Receiver graduation: To 10 ml, subdivisions of 0.2 ml
Applications
Moisture content determination in oils, fats, waxes, and other water-immiscible products. The organic solvent carries water over as an azeotrope — water is retained in the graduated receiver while solvent overflows back into the flask. Standard method in quality control for food, petrochemical, and cosmetics industries.
The glass stopcock on the receiver allows draining or sampling without dismantling the assembly — saves time between consecutive determinations.
Technical Specifications
- Flask capacity: 500 ml
- Condenser length: 40 cm
- Receiver capacity: 25 ml
- Reading scale: 0 – 10 ml
- Smallest division: 0.2 ml
- Receiver closure: Glass stopcock
Assembly Advantages
Supplied as a complete set — no need to source and match components from different suppliers. Glass stopcock is more robust and solvent-resistant than polymer alternatives. The 0.2 ml subdivisions allow quantification of low water content without additional instrumentation.
