PTFE stopcock vs. glass stopcock
A glass stopcock requires grease to seal and can seize with certain solvents. PTFE seals without grease, introduces no lubricant contamination into the sample, and withstands aggressive cleaning cycles without deterioration. In liquid-liquid extractions with chlorinated solvents or ketones, the difference is apparent from the first use.
