Flexible PTFE Joints for Ground Glass Joints — Self-Lubricating, Grease-Free, Rated to 280 °C
PTFE flexible sealing joints for ground glass connections. Seal without grease, withstand elevated temperatures and are chemically inert to nearly all common laboratory reagents.
Why PTFE and Not Silicone
Standard silicone joints require vacuum grease to seal effectively — and that grease invariably contaminates the sample or the system. PTFE joints are self-lubricating: the material itself acts as the lubricant. Assembly is cleaner, and re-greasing between uses is not required.
- Material: Flexible PTFE
- Lubrication: Self-lubricating — no grease required
- Maximum temperature: 280 °C
- Vacuum: Suitable for low to medium vacuum
Chemical Compatibility
PTFE resists concentrated acids, strong bases and the majority of organic solvents. Suitable for assemblies where silicone degrades or where vacuum grease is excluded by protocol.
Typical Applications
Distillations, reflux assemblies, moderate vacuum systems and any ground glass setup where grease-free operation is required. Commonly used in organic synthesis, quality control and pharmaceutical laboratories.
