Autoclavable Polypropylene Laboratory Tray 121 °C
General-purpose laboratory tray moulded in polypropylene. Withstands autoclave sterilisation at 121 °C without warping — the standard cycle used in most laboratory autoclaves.
Material and Chemical Resistance
- Material: Polypropylene (PP)
- Autoclavable: Yes, 121 °C
- Chemical resistance: Dilute acids, bases and common solvents
- Moisture absorption: None — does not retain liquids or odours
Typical Applications
Transport of materials between laboratory areas, containment of minor bench-top spills, organisation of tubes, vials and containers. In microbiology, commonly used to carry items to the autoclave and retrieve them after sterilisation.
Standard in clinical laboratories, microbiology, analytical chemistry and quality control environments.
Why PP Rather Than Other Plastics
Polypropylene combines chemical resistance, thermal stability and low weight. Unlike PE, it withstands autoclave conditions without issue. Lighter than polycarbonate and free from the solvent-compatibility restrictions associated with some engineering plastics. Cleans readily with standard laboratory detergents.
