VISION+ Petrographic Polarising Microscope

Petrographic microscope for the study of minerals, rocks and anisotropic materials in thin section. Available in monocular and binocular configurations. The complete optical train—polariser, analyser, compensators and Bertrand lens—supports both plane-polarised light observation and interference figure analysis in convergent light.

Optics and head

  • Eyepieces: WF10X/18 mm
  • Monocular head: 45° inclined, 360° rotation
  • Binocular head: 30° inclined, 360° rotation
  • Nosepiece: Quadruple
  • Objectives: Achromatic DIN 45 mm — 4X, 10X, 40X and 100X

Polarisation and analysis system

  • Polariser: Rotating, adjustable
  • Analyser: Rotating 0–90°
  • Compensators: 1/4 λ plate and first-order red plate
  • Bertrand lens: Sliding, for interference figure analysis

Stage and focus

  • Stage: Circular rotating Ø160 mm
  • Graduation: 1° increments, minimum resolution 6' via Vernier scale
  • Focus: Coaxial coarse and fine, precision 0.01 mm
  • Condenser: Abbe N.A. 1.25 with iris diaphragm

Illumination and technical data

  • Light source: 1W LED with intensity control
  • Power supply: 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz
  • Warranty: 2 years

Applications

Field and laboratory geology and petrography, optical mineralogy, quality control of anisotropic industrial materials, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Earth sciences. The Bertrand lens allows rapid switching between orthoscopic and conoscopic observation for determination of the optical sign of minerals.
