PTFE Tubing Chemical and Thermal Resistance -200 to +260 ºC
Tubing manufactured in polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) for conveying aggressive fluids. Thermal range of -200 to +260 ºC — covers cryogenic applications through to high-temperature processes without changing material.
Material Properties
- Material: PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene)
- Working temperature: -200 to +260 ºC
- Chemical resistance: Near-universal — concentrated acids, bases, solvents, oxidisers
- Inner surface: Non-stick, very low coefficient of friction
- Permeability: Effectively zero to gases and liquids
Applications
Dosing and fluid transfer systems in analytical chemistry, synthesis and quality control laboratories. Also used in chromatography equipment, pilot plants and assemblies where contamination of the fluid by the tubing material is not acceptable.
Where the reagent inventory includes compounds that attack any elastomer or metal, PTFE is the default choice.
Practical Advantages
- No plasticiser extraction or fluid contamination
- Easy to cut and connect with standard laboratory fittings
- Smooth bore — does not retain residues between reagent changes
- Translucent in thin walls — allows visual flow monitoring
