Narrow-mouth amber reagent bottle with PP stopper, borosilicate 3.3
Storage bottle manufactured from borosilicate 3.3 glass with amber colouration. Designed for reagents and solutions that degrade on exposure to light. Narrow mouth with polypropylene stopper.
Why amber glass
Amber glass filters UV radiation and part of the visible spectrum — required for storing light-sensitive reagents such as potassium iodide, peroxides, indicators and standard solutions that lose titre on light exposure. Not an aesthetic choice: a technical specification.
Specifications
- Material: Borosilicate 3.3
- Colour: Amber — UV and visible light protection
- Mouth: Narrow — minimises evaporation and allows controlled dispensing
- Stopper: Polypropylene, resistant to dilute acids and bases
- Chemical resistance: High, inherent to borosilicate 3.3
Typical use
Storage of light-sensitive reagents, titrated solutions, organic solvents and culture media sensitive to light exposure. Also used as a stock bottle in analytical lines where reagent is replenished in fractions.
Standard in analytical chemistry, quality control, pharmacy and teaching laboratories.
Practical advantages
The narrow mouth reduces the evaporation surface area — relevant with volatile solvents. PP stopper releases no components that would interfere with analysis. Borosilicate 3.3 withstands aggressive cleaning cycles and sterilisation without altering the glass.
