Solid Glass Stirring Rod for Laboratory Use
Solid borosilicate glass rod for manual stirring. An essential bench tool in any chemistry, biology or quality control laboratory. Resistant to the vast majority of common acids, bases and organic solvents.
Specifications
- Material: Solid borosilicate glass
- Finish: Smooth surface, no sharp edges at either end
- Cleaning: Suitable for laboratory dishwashers and autoclave
- Chemical resistance: Compatible with commonly used acids, bases and organic solvents
Typical Applications
Manual agitation of solutions, mixtures and suspensions. Liquid transfer guide from beaker to funnel or measuring cylinder — prevents splashing and sample loss. Dissolving solids in solvents. Also useful for breaking up precipitates and homogenising viscous mixtures.
Standard equipment in organic chemistry, analytical, teaching and quality control laboratories.
Glass vs Plastic
Glass does not leach plasticisers or colorants into the sample. Withstands aggressive solvents where plastic fails. The surface does not scratch over time — remains as smooth after hundreds of uses as it was new. For work with concentrated acids or chlorinated solvents, it is the only practical option.
Maintenance
Wash with water and laboratory detergent or in a laboratory dishwasher. Autoclavable at 121 °C. Inspect both ends periodically — discard if chipping is observed.
