Autoclavable Flat-Spoon Polypropylene Spatula
Laboratory spatula moulded in polypropylene with a flat-spoon profile. Autoclavable at 121 °C, allowing sterilisation between uses without switching to metal spatulas.
Specifications
- Material: Polypropylene (PP)
- Profile: Flat spoon
- Autoclave compatible: Yes, 121 °C
- Surface: Smooth, non-porous — easy to clean and decontaminate
Applications
Transfer and handling of powders, granular solids, gels and semi-solid samples. Routinely used in microbiology, biochemistry and quality control where sterilisation of equipment between uses is required.
The flat-spoon profile facilitates scraping and collection of solids from narrow-mouth vessels or flat surfaces.
Chemical Resistance
Polypropylene performs well against dilute acids, bases and aqueous solutions typical in laboratory work. Not compatible with concentrated organic solvents such as acetone, benzene or chlorinated hydrocarbons.
Practical Advantages
Lighter than metal spatulas and eliminates the risk of trace metal contamination. Autoclavability at 121 °C removes the need for single-use consumables in many protocols. Non-porous surface — residues do not become trapped and rinsing is complete.
